I can make the argument that "oh, well not all of that DLC is really important, here let me give you a list of DLC that really impact the game" but by then I already got someone who has a pretty sour taste in their mouth regarding the game's business model. I can't get anybody to buy EU4 because they go to the page and immediately see the price of the complete DLC bundle (which doesn't even have all the DLC) is $282.Įven if I guide them and say "oh most of that is just useless, here's the actual content DLC", right now on the store if you want to buy EU4 and all of its DLC it's going to cost you $100 ON SALE ($80 not including Mandate of Heaven). Paradox is going to find themselves quickly running into the problem of having difficulty obtaining new players and retaining players who took a break from their games because of the DLC policy, and it's only going to get worse.
